The director of the 8th Ammar Popular Film Festival says the upcoming edition of the event will enforce margin programs.
In a recent interview with the media, Seyyed-Rasoul Monfared announced that the festival will include filmmaking workshops and professional sessions for documentarians.
The director said jury panels of select sections have already started to review the vying titles.
“The opening ceremony of the 8th Ammar Popular Film Festival will be held on December 27, 2017, in Bahman Culture Center, the main venue for screenings is Cinema Felestin (Palestine), and the closing ceremony will be held on January 5, 2018,” he added.
Monfared also noted that the screening sessions are not limited to Tehran, but other Iranian cities will host the screenings as well.
The Ammar Popular Film Festival goes against promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other human suppression,” the event’s official website noted.
The festival also enjoys an international version (AIPFF) which aims “to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public,” the AIPFF website read, adding that the event’s mission is to create an atmosphere in which independent filmmakers and thinkers can gather together.
The 8th edition of the festival is scheduled to be held from December 27, 2017, to January 5, 2018, in Tehran.
